 Phillip's Poem

I am a native of this land.
My life is new.
I am true.

What will they do?
When you open my doors I can be gleeful.
I am 94 but I still adore.
I help, I can heal…but I am still.
I am only but a native, but please don't hate me.
When you live in me, my soul can be part of you.
I have my whole life to live, on a building, to rejoice.
The sun shines down and wakes me up.
I see myself to be 1,000,004.
I am strong, but weak, and I don't have a peak.
You can make fun of me, but I don't hear you.
I can't hear anything but silence.
I can love you
I can hate you, but I choose to love.

I am a native of this land.
My life is new
I am true.

 Ian's Poem

Look at that picture.
It resembles a nice big corner.
Each window is a nice room.
My roof is really flat and steep.
The windows below my brackets are
Capped with window hoods.

 Tyler's Poem

I was made in 1931.
I was made of strong steel and powerful wire cables.
The dinosaurs were spray painted on.
That was nice graffiti but I know it was wrong.
When cars go ride over me
I hope they don't break me,
But when they make it safely
Then I am so happy.
They never have broken me so I am happy.
People run over me but they can't break me.
I give people ways to get over the water.
I used to serve the past and now I serve the present.

 Amani's Poem

I am strong, I am big
I am young, I am straight
I am tall, I am huge
I am blue, I am hard
I am bolted together
I am a steel structure.

 Shanda's Poem

I am very old but beautiful.
I used to be used as a store.
I would like to be used again.
I can just remember people running in and out of me!
I wish they did that now, but they don't.
My architect is unknown: very mysterious.
I am detailed with beautiful stamping in sheet metal.
I wonder why people don't use me anymore?
Now, all they use is Giant Eagle and JC Penny instead of me!
“Baa!,” I'm sad.
But that does not matter anymore.
I am just a building, a sad, big, beautiful building.

 Briahna's Poem

I'm an Indian.
I watch out for everyone I see.
But when people fight it gives me fright.
Are they going to throw something at me?
What are they going to do?
Are they going to throw something at me?
And when people walk into my doors
I am the happiest I can be.
What are they going to do with me?
Come in happily, with peace.
Once you go out you will be free.

 Miyah's Poem

I've been up since 1920.
It's now 2004 and I'm still up!
I honor America with my flags.
I was a commercial building but now I am a restaurant.
I am made up of brick, wood, and tile
And hopefully I'll survive for awhile.

 Leeza's Poem

I'm a gray building that was a Citizen's Bank
And before that I was a Mellon Bank.
I've been around for 108 years and nobody wants me
I'm so fed up with tears.
On the outside I'm known for Victorian architecture
But on the inside I'm as dark as a shadow.
There is tons of activity going on up the street
But here I'm just waiting for someone to buy me.

 Talaysia's Poem

I am the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, South Side Branch
2205 East Carson Street.
I am 95 years old.
But I do have to say that I am happy that people of all kinds visit me.
They make me happy adventuring in new worlds when they read.
They make me happy when they are quiet.
I get a whole bunch of peace.
I am happy that people love me!

 Tessa's Poem

See me, see me, I am open for you
You are looking at me like you don't have a clue.
Come in, come in, I am useful for you
I'm the one who has the money too.
You see me in the dark when I am 106 years old
Come and see me today, come in out of the cold.
