After sketching local landmarks, and composing poetry about them, students see their neighborhood in a whole new way. As one student said, "Our school bus always drove past these places, and I never paid much attention to them. But now when I see the 10th Street Bridge, or the Equitable Gas clock, or the South Side Market House, I see them as places worth saving, full of history and value."

Students completed this work as part of The Poetry and Art of South Side Landmarks field trip.
