Neighborhood Explorations

During its survey of more than 6,000 architecturally significant sites in Allegheny County, the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation gathered information on the development of many Pittsburgh-area neighborhoods. Let our staff help you explore your neighborhood by organizing a walking tour for school students or community residents.
Through a neighborhood walking tour and mapping exercise, participants develop a sense of belonging and appreciation for the area surrounding their school or community center. They are given the opportunity to read and analyze historical data, map out a walking tour route, search for architectural details, and organize and record their impressions about the community on a trip sheet.
Typical tour fee:
- $2 to $5 per person (if your school or group is a member of the Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation)
- $8 to $10 per person (if your school or group is not a member)
